About Us

The brainchild of the current Strategic Management Information System at QBIX, Chief Executive Officer of ESP Consulting, Mrs Shamala Rajah (B. Compt), (CPA) SA, MBA (UKZN), first modeled the system around the Public Sector's need for real-time reporting.

After numerous years of having served as a Director within the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Treasury, Mrs Rajah branched off on her own, creating ESP Consulting, a leading company in Public Sector Management.

Consulting Services environment

Through her extensive years of experience, Mrs Rajah first identified the need for a system which would allowed for real-time consolidation of information across multiple sites within the sectors of performance and supply chain management.

Consequently, the services of Paradox Technologies, an ICT Development company headed up by Mr Jeetesh Govind, were enlisted to develop her ideas for a system into a completed product, resulting in the birth of QBIX.

Since its initial development as a planning and reporting solution for the Public Sector, and through shared knowledge from a number of Public Sector experts, QBIX has been further developed into a first class Management Information System for Public Sector performance management and supply chain management.

QBIX is web-based Strategic Performance Management Information System developed to empower management at a national, provincial and local level of government.

The system has four modules and a platform / foundation module:
  • Strategic Performance Management Module
  • Individual Performance Management Module
  • Supply Chain Management Module
  • Report Writer Module
QBIX is unique in that it has the ability to enable users to setup various “business units” according to the institution's organisational structure. Users are then able to work within each business unit utilising the different functionality applicable to their roles. All capturing screens have been developed to ensure customisability and modification as the need arises, without expensive programing changes.

Management is then able to report on individual “business unit” information, or consolidate different “business unit” information across the entire institution in real-time. They are also able to analyse performance at a summarised level, or drill down to identify problem areas.

QBIX is web-based and therefore has a minimal impact on existing information technology infrastructure. It can be implemented on either the internet or intranet, which allows users to access the system from remote locations.

The following are some of the benefits of using QBIX:
  • User-friendly system with a easy to use Graphical User Interface
  • Designed primarily for the Public Sector, ensuring compliance with the legislative framework that exists
  • Has built-in controls to ensure a sound internal control environment, thereby minimising the threats of over / under expenditure, fraud, corruption, etc.
  • Ensures accountability by logging all transaction history in an Audit Trail
  • Allows for integration with other legacy systems, including BAS, Persal, etc.
  • Facilitates for multi-year planning and reporting
  • Real-time reporting of information, which allows for timeous monthly, quarterly and annual reports at the click of a button
  • Early warning alerts of non-delivery
  • Improved influence over spending patterns
  • Historical information can be retained for year-on-year trend analysis, etc.
